Course Outline
Cherry blossoms, sakura in Japanese, are the small, delicate pink flowers produced by cherry blossom trees. The springtime bloom is a lavish spectacle but remarkably brief; after only two weeks, they drop to the ground and wither, falling like snow with the ebb and flow of the winds. In Japan, Sakura is more than just a beautiful flowering tree, it signifies the following:
• Arrival of Spring
• The ephemeral nature of life
• Hope and rebirth
• Friendship and alliance
We are delighted to announce a special Ikebana workshop, the traditional and ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement, by using genuine cherry blossoms from Japan.
A certified Master from Ohara School of Japan will explain and demonstrate the symbolism of Sakura in Japan and instruct how to emphasize the natural, and graceful beauty of Sakura in Ikebana style.
All participants will be able to create and compose their own Ikebana floral arrangement using the technique and style taught by the instructor.
AED 385 - All materials will be provided.
